About Me

Welcome to my online portfolio, this site is a place for me to showcase my work and share my passion and interests with you.

I starting writing as a teenager. I was the only kid in school to enjoy writing essays and evaluating school projects. I was even in trouble for writing out my classmates lines for them… I spent my lunchtime writing ‘I will not talk when the teacher is talking’ 50 times for my friend, only to be punished with my own lines but little did they know I secretly enjoyed writing ‘I will not write other peoples lines’ 50 times.

The subjects which required the most writing were my strongest. I loved studying English Language and Literature and Media so it was inevitable that I would go on to study a degree in Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing at Southampton Solent University.

Whilst studying for my degree I was lucky enough to secure myself work experience placements with many local newspapers, including The Nottingham Evening Post, The Chad, Worksop Guardian and Retford Times. I had many stories published and even got to interview my Nan and Grandad and write their golden wedding anniversary article. To date, they are the funniest people I have interviewed.

Since graduating I’ve had a varied working life as I’ve found it hard to get into the wonderful world of journalism but I have been lucky enough to get lots of experience in this field.

I’ve had the role of Editor of an internal business magazine which is one of my greatest writing achievement yet. I’ve also written for blogs, websites and newspapers, most of which you can find on this portfolio. Click here to see my Online Portfolio.

I am currently taking time out of work as I have just had my first baby, but I will be writing amidst the madness.

Please let me know if I can help you with your writing, and if I can provide you with content for your website, blog, newspaper or magazine. I always welcome a challenge.

Please feel free to comment on my work and subscribe to my page.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Laura Faulkner.
